ClearCost is a free iOS app that helps you find real, negotiated prices for medical procedures at hospitals near you. By connecting your insurance plan, you can see your estimated out-of-pocket cost — before your visit — so you can compare options and avoid surprise bills.
Price data comes from federal Transparency in Coverage machine-readable files that insurers are required to publish. We process and index this data so you can search it instantly.
Prices are sourced directly from insurer transparency files published under the federal Transparency in Coverage rule. They reflect the rate your specific insurance plan has negotiated with each hospital. Your actual bill may vary if your deductible has not been met, if additional services are performed, or if the negotiated rate has changed since the file was published. Always confirm final costs with your provider and insurer.
We currently support several major insurers including UnitedHealthcare, Kaiser Permanente, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, with more being added regularly. If your plan isn't listed yet, you can still search cash prices at hospitals. We're working to expand insurer coverage — contact us if you'd like to request your plan.
You can delete your account from the Profile tab in the app: tap your name at the top, then scroll to "Delete Account." This permanently removes your account and all saved data. If you need help with account deletion, email us at support@clearcost.app.
The free tier lets you search procedure prices and view basic estimates. A ClearCost subscription unlocks unlimited saved procedures, price alerts, full cost breakdowns (deductible tracking, coinsurance estimates), and priority access to new insurer data as it launches.
