ClearCost ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the ClearCost mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you use social sign-in (Google or Apple), your name and profile photo as provided by those services. This is handled through Clerk, our authentication provider.
Insurance plan information. You may voluntarily enter your health insurance carrier and plan name. We use this to display estimated out-of-pocket costs. We do not collect your insurance ID number, member ID, or any claims data.
Search and usage data. We collect the procedures and hospitals you search for, procedures you save, and price alerts you set. This data is stored in your account so we can provide your saved items across devices.
Device and technical data. We automatically collect device type, operating system version, app version, and general error/crash data for debugging and improving the app. We do not collect precise location by default; if you grant location permission, we use it only to show nearby hospitals and do not store your location history.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

We retain your account data as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit and encryption at rest. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
